Youth Goalie

Goalie is a critical and unique position in hockey. A good goalie can make or break a team and is the hardest position to learn as a kid. How does one get started as a goalie? Where do they learn? Where can you get cost effective equipment? There is so much needed information to make the appropriate decision whether to let your kid learn that position. We are here to help and provide as much information as possible as well as list local opportunities to learn and develop as a goalie.

One of the best resources to get information on goaltending basics, training, and development is from USA Hockey. You can get goalie news, resources, drills, and more at https://www.usahockeygoaltending.com/

In addition to USA Hockey, there are many local resources for kids to learn and develop their goalie game. Check out our Camps and Clinics page to find all the local training opportunities for goalies. Typically, their journey begins in Rec hockey leagues as they will need to develop their skating and play different positions on the ice. Most coaches will let those interested in goalie test it out with some “quick change” pads that are provided. It is a great way for them to try it out before you have to purchase all the gear, which can be expensive.
