There are several great resources around Tampa Bay where kids can learn to play the game. One of the best programs around is the “Learn to Play” program sponsored by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Their program has been teaching kids to play since 2016. The cost is around $250 (in 2022) an it includes all hockey gear and usually around 8 sessions of learn to play from former Lightning players at local rinks in the area. Most rinks also have their own Learn to Play programs as well and are a good alternative if you miss an upcoming Lightning one. Go to the rinks page to find the rink closest to you and find out more about their learn to play program. No matter which one you join, your kid will need to have taken learn to skate programs and have basic skating ability.
